There are many opportunities to grow and serve in the church. As the body of Christ, we are blessed with the ability to connect with each other on a deep and meaningful level. We strive to provide opportunities for people to develop and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and to develop and deepen their relationships with fellow Christ-followers.

Special Needs Adults – Our special adult groups meet in the classroom by the south entrance to discuss their spiritual walk with the Lord. These meetings are facilitated by Shannon Dawson

Adult Wednesday Night Bible Study and Prayer TimeWe offer a Bible Study, or Prayer Time, every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm in the Children’s Church Room.  Prayer and Bible Study are essential for the growing Christian.  If you are not currently involved in a Wednesday Night Ministry, you are invited to come and join our adults as we spend time in prayer and look at different methods of Bible Study.

If you would like more information on any of the classes, feel free to contact the church office or visit with the greeters at each entrance of the church.

Children’s Church at First Church

Children’s Church at First Church is committed to teaching our young people, from kindergarten through fifth grade, about Christ. Our goal is to help children better understand the love Christ has for each of them in a safe, fun environment. Our leaders work together to build activities that reinforce the lessons taught each week.

Infant Nursery and Toddler Church

We have an Infant’s Nursery for our babies and Toddler Church for children that are walking.  Ages birth through two years old, or until potty trained, are cared for in the infant nursery. Cribs are available if needed. Toddlers (ages one to two and potty trained) are cared for in Toddler Church. Both services are available for Sunday School, Worship Service, and Wednesday evening service.  Both rooms are adjacent to the Fellowship Hall.

A number of classes are offered as part of our Sunday School service. In these classes, children will hear a Bible story and complete a craft or lesson page, depending on the age group. They also work on Bible verse memorization.

Classes

  • Nursery – age 0 to 2 – Nancy & Bruce Carter – Nursery Room
  • Preschool – 3 to 5 years old – Ardella Hauck – Room off Fellowship Hall
  • Early Elementary – Kindergarten & 1st Grade – Katherine Gray & Sue Baldwin – Room by the steps at the back entrance
  • Elementary – 2nd & 3rd Grade – Dotty Rapier – Room by the back entrance

This service starts in the sanctuary with music, a time of fun, and a Bible Story skit.  Children then break into groups and rotate between music, crafts, games, and journaling.

First Church of God Youth Ministries

First Church of God Student Ministries exists so students accomplish three things: Discover, Connect and Share.

Discover – We want to encourage students to discover the love of Jesus Christ so that they can develop and grow their personal faith and knowledge in Him.

Connect We work to connect students with one another, with fellow believers in the local church, and with other believers in the national CHOG movement.

Share – We pray that students will share the Gospel message with others through acts of service and missions in both local and world-wide.

FCOG Student Ministries Wednesday Night Activities Our Wednesday Night Ministry for our 6th through 12th grade students meets from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the Youth Room.

Run for God Bible Study

The Run For God 5K Challenge is a 12-week Bible study that focuses on endurance and faith. The course is designed to allow anyone the opportunity to run a 5K—regardless of fitness level—and draws parallels between a physical race and our journey with God. Each week, the group meets to work through a study before hitting the track. The goal is to improve physically, mentally, and spiritually. Members encourage one another to stay in His word, be faithful in prayer, and stay moving.

Physically

Create a healthier you and make it possible to reach a new demographic of non-believers – potential believers!

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20

Mentally

Learn the discipline and endurance that it takes to “run the race set before us.”

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1

Spiritually

Learn always to give God the glory for all that we accomplish.

“I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.” Psalm 86:12
